A healthy steam trap population allows condensate to be removed from the steam system effectively and keeps your plant operational.
Steam traps protect plants from:
Having an incorrectly sized or selected steam trap can be just as detrimental as not having one at all.
Steam traps are sized and selected based on application, optimum drainage performance, optimum mechanical performance and optimum air venting performance.

Thermodynamic (Velocity Driven) Steam Traps
Thermodynamic steam traps combine reliability, simplicity and efficiency of operation. They are able to withstand superheat, water hammer, corrosive condensate, freezing and vibration. Thermodynamic traps are easy to install & maintain and have a wide operating pressure range, which makes them an ideal option for removal of condensate from steam distribution systems and tracing applications.

Mechanical (Density Driven) Steam Traps
Mechanical Steam Traps are extremely versatile traps that work efficiently on both light and heavy condensate loads. Float & Thermostatic and Inverted Bucket type steam traps are the most popular types of mechanical traps. Their discharge capacity is high and continuous, ensuring maximum heat transfer. They are ideal for a wide range of applications, but are most commonly seen on process applications due to their ability to automatically adjust to fluctuation in condensate loads.

Thermostatic (Temperature Controlled) Steam Traps
Thermostatic Steam Traps are known for their excellent air venting capabilities.Balanced Pressure and Bimetallic type steam traps are the most popular thermostatic traps. Their robust design of internals gives a good life expectancy, however, due to their subcooling ability their response to condensate load changes is slow and there is the potential for large amounts of condensate backup.
