Core Pipe Products, Inc. began as Tube-Line Stainless Division of Hi-Shear Industries in 1978. It was designed specifically for the manufacture of stainless and alloy pipe fittings and flanges. The current CEO and Chairman Joe Romanelli, Sr., was the original president of the division and main designer for the facility. In December 1984, the assets of Tube-Line Stainless Division were purchased from Hi-Shear Industries, and Core Pipe (previously known as Gerlin, Inc.) was formed.
Gerlin, Inc. was founded in December, 1984 when the assets of Tube-Line Stainless Division were purchased from Hi Shear Industries. It is privately owned and operated by the Romanelli family.
Two years later, in 1986, Core Pipe acquired the original 65,000-square-foot building and land. This was done to secure a permanent location, with the potential for future expansion. It did not take long for the future to start taking shape.
In October 1987, Core Pipe acquired the assets of Picor, a stainless fitting manufacturer located in Pennsylvania. Picor had a long history dating back to the early 1960's as a manufacturer of high-quality stainless fittings in a variety of configurations. The acquisition of Picor expanded the manufacturing capacity and product lines of Core Pipe to include Belled End, Long Tangent, Marine, and Brewery Quality fittings in addition to complementing existing product lines of Tube-Line butt weld fittings and flanges.
Throughout this time, Mr. Romanelli maintained a superior focus on customer service. He also never forgot his employees, recognizing them for their hard work and dedication through all the changes.
More changes were in store, and in May 1995 the stainless-forming equipment of Ladish Company was acquired and moved from Cynthiana, Kentucky, to Carol Stream, Illinois. The original Carol Stream facility was expanded to 85,000 square feet, with a high bay 20,000-square-foot addition to accommodate this equipment. Additional large presses and state-of-the-art heat treating equipment were added, as well.
In September 2005, Core Pipe acquired the assets of Tube Tec located in Sanford, Florida. And in March 2006, Core Pipe introduced Brite Line as a new value product brand of stainless fittings and flanges produced globally by joint venture / manufacturing partners. The focus of the product line is on customers seeking a value product brand that has been manufactured using Core Pipe quality standards and backed by the expertise offered by their management team.
In late 2008 and early 2009 Core Pipe has established offices in Shanghai, China and Dubai, UAE in order to expand its global reach in serving its customers. Additional offices are planned over the next several years in order to grow market share and awareness for the wide breadth of product lines offered.
