Despite the ongoing COVID -19 pandemic, The Macomb Group’s Plumbing Division has been experiencing a steady stream of business as it serves the PVF and other plumbing product needs of commercial and industrial customers across the Midwest and the South.

As businesses, factories and institutions prepare for a gradual return to normal operations, there is a particular group of plumbing products that has been climbing in the top-seller rankings, according to Chad Flowers, The Plumbing Division’s West Michigan Regional Manager.

“We’re seeing a lot of demand from customers wanting to change their faucets and water cooler fountains over to sensor-operated, touchless-style operation,” said Flowers. “There’s been a particularly large demand for this type of plumbing from schools that are planning to return to classroom sessions.”

Flowers noted that one large West Michigan school district, as part of an $80 million facilities renovation project, will be equipping restrooms, kitchens, and other areas with touchless technology.

But, as with other types of construction and renovation materials, supply chain issues have made getting products quickly a challenge.

Planning in advance, The Macomb Group’s Plumbing Division was able to make a large-scale purchase of sensor-operated products before the spike in demand began.

“We wanted to ensure that we had an adequate quantity on our shelves,” said Flowers.

The good news is that plumbing product manufacturers are returning to normal levels of production and are expected to resume regular delivery flow soon, Flowers added.

The Plumbing Division is looking forward to a busy summer and beyond as construction and renovation projects get into full swing with the warmer weather and easing of pandemic-related restrictions.
