March marks National Women’s History Month: a celebration of women’sMonica and Tiffany Howe contributions to history, culture, commerce, and society and has been observed annually in the United States since 1987. The Macomb Group recognizes the ever-important role our women team members play in the success of our company, including this mother-daughter leadership duo.

Monica Howe, Human Resources Director at The Macomb Group, leads the full complement of the company’s personnel-related activities – including onboarding, payroll, and benefits administration – as well as the company’s entire pandemic response and coordination across seven states and 18 branches.

She does all this with the help of her daughter and Human Resources Associate, Tiffany Howe.

“We make a great team,” Tiffany says. “It’s rewarding to follow in my mother Monica’s footsteps and to work for a company that my grandpa (former partner Doug Howe) was a part of.”

According to Tiffany, of the many HR responsibilities learned from her mother, serving The Macomb Group’s nearly 500 team members is the need to pay strict attention to detail, use critical thinking skills, and have a healthy sense of empathy.

“She and I strive to treat our team members as unique individuals,” Monica adds. “We empathize, we relate. We share each person’s highs as well as their lows.”

Reflecting on the role of women leadership, Monica cites the idea of leading by example as one of the most important traits.

“I like to think we’re always working to inspire people throughout the company to do their absolute best,” she says. “We see that here every day, and it’s been key to The Macomb Group’s success over the last 30 years.”

There’s little doubt that The Macomb Group is truly enriched by the hard work and dedication of this wonderful duo. As we celebrate Women’s History Month, let’s give a big thank you to the Howe family – our HR heroes.
